Michael Allen - CEO
As Chief Executive Officer at Lanson B. Jones & Co., Michael Allen is the business architect of the firm. Michael leads the executive team through organizational growth and development strategies that put the client at the center of business approach. He oversees the design, construction, and finance teams as well as new business development, and marketing groups. Michael has been in profit and non-profit organizational leadership for over 10 years. He was brought to the firm for his experience in organizational development, systems thinking, process development and improvement, employee and leadership development, and project management
Lanson B. Jones - Principal, Founder, & Landscape Architect
A native Houstonian, Lanson attended Texas A&M where he obtained his degree in landscape architecture. Lanson served as the VP of Design at McDugald Steele for more than 14 years where he oversaw 50+ award-winning projects. Lanson launched Lanson B. Jones & Company, in 1994 where he could focus all of his design efforts on The European Scaled Garden philosophy. Lanson is a John Staub Award-Winning Landscape Architect.
Lauren Scott - Chief of Staff & Executive Assistant to Michael Allen, CEO
Originally from Corpus Christi, Lauren our Chief of Staff and an Executive Team member, moved to Houston in 2010 to pursue her law career after graduating with a degree in Political Science from Texas A&M University. Lauren worked for several years in banking and brokerage before joining our team as a Design Associate in 2016. In 2017, Lauren became Executive Assistant to our CEO, Michael Allen, and now operates as Chief of Staff. Lauren works with Michael to oversee departments and develop new processes to foster the company’s continued growth.
Jennifer Leonard - Controller
Jennifer, our Controller and an Executive Team member, is a veteran at Lanson B. Jones & Company with more than 18 years with our firm and 20 years of accounting and business management experience. She grew up in Houston and began studying business at a young age. From there, she went on to intern with Anadrill-Schlumberger and began her formal business education. While working full time, she finished both her undergraduate and master’s degrees with the full support of her family and Lanson B. Jones & Company.
Rachel Gibbs - Head of Design Office & Senior Project Manager
As Head of the Design Department and an Executive Team Member, Rachel has a commitment to building strong working relationships with clients, architects, engineers and other professionals. Originally from Tomball, Rachel earned her degree in Architecture from Rice University. During her studies, she lived abroad in Lüneburg, Germany where she solidified her love for European Architecture. As a Certified Project Management Professional (PMP)®, Rachel fosters an environment of teamwork and collaboration with her team and has passed on her passion for architecture, design and an unquenchable curiosity for learning.
Christian Rivas - Field Operations Manager
Originally from Monterrey, Mexico, Christian, our Field Operations Manager and an Executive Team member, moved to Houston at age 14 and has more than 15 years of experience in the landscape industry. As Field Operations Manager, Christian ensures that our clients’ gardens stay beautifully manicured and are maintained according to the intended design. He is passionate about his work and loves trimming shrubs by hand, which he describes as an "art form" and the only way to ensure a hedge is truly level and balanced.
Brendan Joseph - General Manager of Floral & Events
Brendan, our General Manager of Floral & Events and an Executive Team member, is originally from Boston, Massachusetts, and arrived in Houston in 2010. Brendan brings with him 7 years of retail management experience to Lanson B. Jones – Floral & Events department. His crisis management tactics and organizing skills help events run smoothly and on time. Brendan attended the University of Houston-Downtown where he focused on supply chain and logistics management. He loves to inspire others and lead by example, strengths that he utilizes not only at work but also in his everyday life.
Karen McGowan - Client Relations Director
Karen, our Client Relations Director and an Executive Team member, joins the LBJ&Co. team with several years of experience in business development and account management in the residential landscape architecture field. She is known for her uncanny attentiveness to detail which sets her apart from others in the industry. Karen studied Hospitality Management at the University of Miami and is a certified Master Gardener from Texas A&M University. She is a Louisiana native and has resided in the Memorial area of Houston for the past twelve years.
Nastaran Moghadam - Design Office Assistant Manager & Project Manager
Born in Shiraz, Iran, Nastaran joined Lanson B. Jones in October 2016. She pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering and once she received her degree, moved to Canada to obtain her Masters in Urban Design. Prior to joining Lanson B. Jones & Company, she was a graphic designer at a consulting company. Her work and travel experiences have helped Nastaran develop a passion for landscape architecture.
Jim Jech - Landscape Architect
Jim Jech joins Lanson B. Jones & Co. with over thirty years of experience in landscape architecture and garden design. After graduating from Iowa State with a bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture, he started his career in Houston, working alongside Lanson for ten years at McDugald Steele. His love for studying the great gardens of the world along with thirty years of experience in Houston make him an expert in landscape design for our community. He loves to make the perfect garden for each client's needs, and his greatest satisfaction comes from knowing the client is enjoying the space he helped create.
Maria Wenzel- Installation Supervisor
Originally from Mexico City, Maria studied Architecture at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. With prior experience in both residential and commercial architecture, Maria joined Lanson B. Jones & Company in September of 2015 as a project manager and continues to add tremendous value to our team as our new Installation supervisor where she oversees all installation projects from the initial site visit to the final walkthrough.
Jeremy Bankhead - Maintenance Supervisor
Jeremy joined Lanson B. Jones & Co. as a Maintenance Supervisor in early 2018. Jeremy started maintaining gardens at a young age, helping his granddad with his own garden. Prior to joining Lanson B. Jones & Co., Jeremy worked as a foreman for a landscaping company that focused primarily on commercial maintenance. Jeremy is passionate about maintaining the appearance of the landscape and keeping the crews smiling and the clients happy.
Carl Walsh - Maintenance Supervisor
Originally from Michigan, Carl Walsh joins Lanson B. Jones & Co. as a Maintenance Supervisor with over 38 years of experience in the landscape architecture industry. After graduating from Michigan State, Carl moved to Houston and joined Mcdugald-Steele, working alongside Jim and Lanson. He moved to Illinois to be closer to his family and hone his craft in residential and commercial maintenance before moving back to Houston in 2018. Carl is looking forward to being part of the Lanson B. Jones & Co. team and is eager to create a relationship with clients and exceed their expectations.
Eric Grayson - Commercial Pesticide Applicator
Eric has been a professionally licensed applicator for more than 20 years. He joined the Lanson B. Jones & Company team in the fall of 2013 and his expertise on Houston area pests and specialized rose care is key to the success of our clients’ gardens. His unparalleled knowledge of the landscaping industry and fruitful relationships crafted during his decades serving the Houston area, make Eric an integral part of the Lanson B. Jones & Company family.
Jacob Pratel - Project Manager
Born in Glens Falls, New York, Jacob Pratel joins Lanson B. Jones with six years of experience in residential construction. Being an entrepreneur at heart, Jacob has also built Tiny Houses using all of his knowledge in residential construction. By combining his experience in construction, client relationships, and design, Jacob is a great asset as Project Manager for Lanson B. Jones. When he’s not working, Jacob enjoys spending time with his wife and two young sons. His hobbies include rock climbing and hiking.
Kemi Assouline - AR Manager
Kemi, a UCLA graduate with more than 15 years of experience in finance and accounting, ensures that all invoices at Lanson B. Jones & Company are both accurate and timely. Kemi has been with Lanson B. Jones & Co. for two and a half years. During her time at our firm, she has developed a great relationship with our clients and internal staff. Kemi takes pride in always meeting deadlines and reaching all goals.
Emiliann Luna - Construction Office Manager
Emiliann, a Proud Houstonian, born and raised, comes to Lanson B. Jones & Co. with 10 years of experience in the Landscape Industry. With her passion for Landscaping and Construction, she uses her organizational skills and knowledge to assist Field Management and crews in completing projects easily and on time. Emiliann has remarkable experience in Project Management and holds an excellent record of strong working relationships with clients.
Lora Blackstone - Floral & Event Designer
Lora joins the Lanson B. Jones & Co. Floral + Events team as a Designer with 5 years of design experience. While studying business at Texas A&M University, Lora interned with a Dallas wedding and events floral company and discovered a passion for working with flowers, caring for clients, and conceptualizing event design. This internship sparked a side business that Lora carried on ever since: producing weddings and events on her own time while working in marketing for an interior design firm. She looks forward to growing the Floral + Events branch of Lanson B. Jones through a creative, detailed, and thoughtful approach to event design.
Abby Barrientos - Floral & Events Design Associate
Abby Barrientos serves as our Floral & Events Design Associate. She joined our team in 2017 as a floral intern, then transitioned into the role of Marketing Coordinator before ultimately returning to her passion, Floral & Events. Abby is a graduate of the University of Houston Valenti School of Communication, and majored in Public Relations and Marketing.
Lilian Gonzalez - Design Associate
Originally from Maracaibo, Venezuela, Lilian Gonzalez pursued a bachelor’s degree in Architectural design and worked for an architectural and an interior design firm before moving to the United States in 2016. With prior experience in both residential and commercial architecture and a passion for landscape architecture, she joined Lanson B. Jones & Company in October 2018. As a Design Associate, Lilian completes all AutoCAD designs and assists the design team.
Zinnet Demirhan - Design Associate
Born in Istanbul, Turkey, Zinnet joined Lanson B. Jones & Company in April 2019. Zinnet earned her degree in Architecture and obtained her Master's degree in Urban Design. She joins the company with prior experience in both residential and commercial architecture as well as, field architecture. As a Design Associate, Zinnet completes AutoCAD designs and assists the design team. Her desire is to bring her prior experience and creativity to the design team and the company.
Edward "EJ" Wood - Project Purchaser
A California native, EJ Wood is responsible for building and maintaining lasting relationships with our potential clients, existing clients, and other businesses. EJ is a proud Arizona State Sun Devil, where he studied Economics at the W.P. Carey School of Business and was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity, a Christian-based leadership organization. Stellar communication and putting the relationship first are paramount to EJ’s business philosophy. Prior to joining the Lanson B. Jones & Company team, EJ worked in the Non-Profit sector, which instilled the tenets of devout compassion and people-centric process management that he proudly carries today.
